Diving in Papua New Guinea
Underwater world in Papua New Guinea is arguably one of the best ones in the world.
Situated in a crossroad of Asia, Pacific and Australia, it is surrounded by 3 different Seas-Bismarck, Solomon and Coral Seas.
The biodiversity and uniqueness of its marine life is attributed to its geographical location.
On the Rhodaleās Diving Magazine, PNG was given a Best Diving Destination in the world from its readers choice.
Although there are no 5-star diving resorts, most of the diving lodges are furnished for divers comfort. Local dive masters are well-trained and bonus is that their super eyes
can detect petit macro creatures for you.
There are 8 land based diving destinations across PNG, each destination has its own attraction and different seasonality.
While diving is possible all year round, generally, Northern side destinations -Madang, Manus, Kimbe, Kavieng & Rabaul have better conditions from April to December, and Southern side destinations - Alotau, Tufi & Port Moresby have better conditions from October to May.
